Scorcher continues, inland temperatures of 40 C and dust until tonight

Temperatures remain above average as a heat wave continues on Friday, with temperatures forecast to hit 40 C for the third consecutive day and dust in the atmosphere.

The met office has issued a yellow alert for Friday, warning of extreme high temperatures and urged vulnerable groups to take special care. The warning is in force from 12 noon to 4 pm and follows two others issues for the two previous days.

In its early morning weather forecast, the met office said that Friday will be mainly fine with increased higher cloud at intervals and dust in the atmosphere.

Temperatures will rise to 40 C inland, around 35 C on the south and east coasts and around 30 on remaining coasts and in the mountains.

Tonight will be mainly fine and the dust will clear. Temperatures will fall to 21 C inland and on the coasts and 18 C in the mountains.

Saturday, Sunday and Monday will see increased higher cloud, while there will be dust again on Sunday.

Temperatures will edge down until Monday but will remain noticeably above average for the time of year.
