Police warn drivers of poor visibility due to rain

Police early on Wednesday urged drivers to be careful citing limited visibility on specific roads and motorways due to heavy rain.

The warning concerned the Paphos-Limassol, Limassol-Nicosia and Larnaca-Nicosia motorways as well as the areas of Pissouri and Choirokitia.

Heavy rain in those areas caused poor visibility and slippery roads, police said at around 8am.

“Drivers are urged to drive safely, at low speeds, to keep a safe distance from the vehicles in front of them and to have their headlights on,” the announcement added.

A yellow weather warning is in force until 5pm on Wednesday for heavy rainfall and possible hail.

According to the weather forecast, snow is also expected in Troodos on Wednesday.

The temperature will average around 17C inland and the coastal areas and 7C in the higher mountainous areas.
