Sizzling Cyprus summer gets even hotter

The coming days look set to be even hotter than Cyprus’ typically sizzling summers with inland temperatures climbing as high as 39 °C until after the weekend.

Meteorological Services official Panayiotos Mouskos told reporters that while summertime in Cyprus could be expected to be hot, temperatures this week were above the usual average.

On Wednesday, maximum inland temperatures were 37°C, he said, but would from Thursday until Sunday, rise to 39 °C.

Mouskos said there was little chance of high levels of dust in the atmosphere and that humidity levels would depend on the wind.

“We expect winds of up to five Beaufort at the beach Wednesday, with conditions worse than yesterday,” he said, adding, however, that this was not unusual for this time of year.

According to the official forecast, on Thursday temperatures will reach 39°C inland, 33°C on the west coast and 35°C on all the other coasts, and 30 in the mountains.
