A blast of winter has arrived in Cyprus with heavy snow falls on the mountains and widespread storms along coastal districts and in the capital.

All roads to Troodos are only open to 4x4 vehicles.

Police have warned drivers of hazardous conditions, with many areas covered with snow and frost.

The Troodos webcam shows heavy fog and snow at the Zeus ski slopes - the camera is mounted at a chalet near the base of the slopes.

As of lunchtime, there had been some heavy downpours in Nicosia and the midlands, with storm-clouds building up along the east coast.
