Storms batter Cyprus, weather warning issued

The unsettled weather will continue over the next 24-hours, with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning.

Storms in the north of Cyprus have caused extensive flooding - especially to roads and farmland.

The ‘code yellow’ weather warning means: "The weather is potentially dangerous. The weather phenomena that have been forecast are not unusual, but be attentive if you intend to practice activities exposed to meteorological risks. Keep informed about the expected meteorological conditions and do not take any avoidable risks."

The entire island is experiencing unsettled conditions, with the heavy rains also causing some flooding on the east coasts.

Conditions should normalize by Monday, with sunshine forecast and temperatures of 18oC.
