Storms and rain forecast as unseasonable weather continues

The unsettled weather in Cyprus is expected to continue throughout Monday and Tuesday, with showers and storms expected in most areas.

On Sunday, the capital Nicosia was lashed by rain, with some roads being flooded. The fire service received over 50 calls from the public requesting help.

The Paphos was also subjected to the storms, with Polis on the north western tip of the island reporting floods.

The only area to escape the storms was the Famagusta district, where it remained dry, clear but slightly cooler.

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly on Wednesday.

The rain has cleared much of the dirt left by a dust storm which swept across the Middle East and Cyprus last week.

The dust also blanketed parts of Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, far southern Turkey, northwest Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
